Job Opening: Visiting Assistant Extension Educator in Land Use

Land Use Planning map reviewUConn Extension is seeking applicants for a Visiting Assistant Extension Educator in Land Use, a position that will support Connecticut communities through education, outreach, and professional development in land use planning and decision-making.

Based at the Middlesex County Extension Center, this full-time faculty position will provide leadership for the award-winning Land Use Academy, a program offered through the Center for Land Use Education and Research (CLEAR). The successful candidate will help local officials, land use commissioners, and community leaders access research-based information and training that supports thoughtful growth, environmental stewardship, and community resilience.

The educator will play a key role in advancing CLEAR’s mission of helping communities balance economic development with natural resource protection. The position also offers opportunities to engage undergraduate students in community-based Extension work and strengthen connections between university research and local needs.

UConn Extension works collaboratively with partners in all 169 Connecticut municipalities, delivering research-based programs that enhance the well-being of residents where they live, work, and learn. The Department of Extension brings together faculty and staff from across the state to address critical issues facing Connecticut communities and provide practical solutions grounded in university expertise.

Ideal candidates will have professional experience in land use planning at the municipal level, an understanding of community resilience and extreme weather issues, and experience with teaching, training, or public outreach.
